Job Title: Technical Communicator
Department: Documentation Team for Corporate Communications
Reports To: Director Corporate Communications
Job Code: Full-Time

Job Summary
The nation’s leading billing and payment processing company for health insurance is seeking a Technical Communicator to complement the company’s existing Documentation team. The position primarily requires creating online Help content using MadCap Flare, to support our software solutions. The position also requires working in an Agile software development environment with the Development, Quality Assurance, (QA), and Release Management teams to coordinate the creation and publication of Help topics to explain software enhancements and features to customers. Our Technical Communicators also align with subject matter experts (SMEs) for internal content review and approvals, creation and release of video tutorials, and ongoing maintenance of both internal and external documents. We are looking for a self-starter, who can easily comprehend complex technical features and explain system functionality in an easy-to-understand format for users. The ideal candidate will have experience with topic-based authoring, single-sourcing, condition tags, Context-sensitive Help (CSH), HTML5 output, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The ideal candidate will also have a keen sharp analytical skillset with strong communication, team work, and leadership skills.

Essential Job Functions
The job functions listed below represent the essential duties and responsibilities of the Technical Communicator position.
• Manage all aspects of documentation development from product planning through release
• Passion for accuracy, consistency, and quality within the definitions of our technical style guide
• Understand online Help best practices (searching, table of contents, indexing, etc.)
• Understand basic user interface (UI) flows and translate system processes into easy-to-understand phrases and steps for customers
• Create Help files using MadCap Flare (HTML and CSS)
• Work with Creative Director to maintain brand in all documentation
• Incorporate screen captures, video tutorials, and other learning resources into the Help system
• Coordinate with QA team to test Help files prior to release
• Assist Marketing and Corporate Communications teams with internal and external writing, presentation, and video assignments

Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or above
• At least 5 years prior Technical Communicator or Document Writer experience
• Proficiency with Madcap Flare (Authoring, Publishing, and Content Management)
• Knowledge of Single-Sourced Content and Best Practices
• Understanding of HTML/CSS
• SnagIt or similar image editing software experience
• Basic UI/UX experience
• MadCap Analyzer (a plus)
• Adobe FrameMaker or RoboHelp (a plus)
• Prior experience with Trello online project management (a plus)
