Hi All,
Sorry for longer post, i am trying to put my requirement/issues in example format. Thank you in advance for helping me out.
We have single sourcing for more than 10 clients and each client is having different-different features available.
Points to be noted here are,
1. Flare version - 2017r3,
2. Manual TOC and
3. Not using Madcap skins, using accordion menu with help of third party - https://straygoat.co.uk/accordion-menu- ... -part-one/
Using manual TOC with numbers as,
1. Main features1
1.1. Sub-features1
1.2. Sub-features2
2. Main features2
2.1. Sub-features1
2.2. Sub-features2
.
.
.Many more.
Now, suppose sub-features 1.1 (1.1. Sub-features1) is not there for client A, then he will see
1. Main features1
1.2. Sub-features2
2. Main features2
2.1. Sub-features1
2.2. Sub-features2....
Which is not looking good as 1.1. is missing. Same case with few more clients, they are missing few TOC numbers.
Now, is there any way to handle this, like, some auto TOC number generation on conditional tagging. or any other solution.
Hope I have put things clearly.
Again thank you for your support!
Mj

Re: Automatic TOC number update on conditional tagging
Can you explain a bit more about how your TOC and topics are set up in Flare? For example:
- Are you using autonumbering to generate those numbers, or have you typed them in manually?
- Are the numbers set in the topic headings, or somewhere else?
- Do you have a single TOC for all of your outputs with conditional tags for each client, or are you using multiple TOCs?

Re: Automatic TOC number update on conditional tagging
Hi doloremipsum,
Thanks you for your reply. I am having online output by using third party skin.
2. Number are set in TOC and on topic for respective sub-features on topic(page),
like,
1.0. Main Topic
1.1. Sub-feature1
1.2. Sub-feature2
3. Single TOC only. Putting conditional tags on both, TOC and on sub-features.
Please come again if something I left. Again Thanks.
MJ

1. No, I am not using auto number, typed manually.doloremipsum wrote:

Re: Automatic TOC number update on conditional tagging
If I understand you correctly, here's what I would do:
1. Do not use manual numbering.
2. Set up a condition for each client and apply conditions on the TOC entries where appropriate - this will turn on and off items in the TOC according to each target
3. Configure a target for each client that includes/excludes the relevant conditions in step 2 above.
4. Use autonumbering on styles to add the numbers you require - there are some good tutorials in the help for autonumbering (see https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... mbers1.htm, https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... adings.htm and https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare20 ... bering.htm for example. This is for 2021 Flare but the procedure hasn't changed for many iterations of Flare).
5. Configure TOC entries - auto-numbering - to provide the numbering you want at the Chapter/Volume/Section level as required.
Hope that helps,
Rob
