Hello there
I have a query about the printing of topics from an HTML Help file.
When I either use the Print button on the HTML toolbar or right-hand click a topic, I either get a standard Print dialog (from which I can select a printer and print) or I get the dialog below.
I am trying to understand when the Print Topics dialog is displayed and cannot find a pattern. I initially thought that this dialog was displayed when the topic I was trying to print was in a book on the TOC and had sub-topics underneath it, but it does not seem to be the case.
Any information on the printing in HTML Help or on this dialog (and its options) would be most welcome.
Thank you!

For me, I see that dialog when I right-click a topic in the contents, or click the Print button. I only get the Print dialog when I right-click in a topic.
The print all subtopics option will print the whole branch of a book, i.e. it'll include the parent book and all other topics inside it on the same level.
(So if you did this on a first level book, you'd print your entire help.)

There are 2 ways to not get that window:Dave Lee wrote:For me, I see that dialog when I right-click a topic in the contents, or click the Print button. I only get the Print dialog when I right-click in a topic.
Via CTRL+P and
via the context menu of the displayed topic.
The context menu of any other part of the help window also takes you into that window.
Only, if it's the only book on that level and even then it will only print the topics you have in the TOC. That's only the whole project if all your topics are in the TOC - that's sth you need for print output, but not for HTML Help.Dave Lee wrote:The print all subtopics option will print the whole branch of a book, i.e. it'll include the parent book and all other topics inside it on the same level.

Sorry, I meant a 1st (root) level topic (not book).i-tietz wrote:Only, if it's the only book on that level and even then it will only print the topics you have in the TOC. I have investigated this a bit more on my HTML Help Files and have observed the following behaviour:
- standard Print dialog displayed
- via the context menu of the displayed topic (in Topic Pane)
- if Print button of the WebHelp toolbar is clicked (I use a WebHelp toolbar)
- if CTRL+P is invoked
- when Print button of the HTML toolbar is clicked
- via context menu in TOC pane
