Images appear for me, but gone elsewhere

Post by rmdavidson »

We published a CHM yesterday only for the images to show up in Flare and on my desktop only to be missing when attached to the software it accompanies. Any ideas?

I haven't built a CHM for a while, but when you view the images on your local system, can you right-click on them to see where the image is coming from? It sounds like the images may be external to the project (which is why they weren't pulled into the CHM build), but you can see them on your computer because the path is to a local file. When you try to view them on another computer, the images don't exist in that location, so you can't see them there.

First thing I'd check, then, is to see if the images you are using are all included in some child of the "Content" folder in Flare.

I store all of my images in Resources > Images and although any from previous writers and possibly previous software (A RH project was imported months ago) are in various other folders. I found out they are using another name for the CHM file though and had to figure out how to change the file name in Flare since the Output File drop down doesn't look like a place you can type (to us at least)...I finally figured out that it was somewhere you can type not just select from the drop down. I *knew* it wasn't the links since they are all relative not absolute.

Most of my images are back, but a few are still missing. Yet they show up for the other writer although this is an ongoing issue with TFS.

Although because of all our hunting around to figure out why it wasn't working (prior to learning of the file name change) mine works, I can build, get latest, etc, but my coworker can't now for some reason. She keeps getting Object reference is not an instant of an object (along those lines) for just about anything she tries to do!
