I want to change the output location of the .chm

Post by MCPBecker »

Flare buries the .chm output file about three folders deep from where I want it to go. Is there a way to make it go where I want it to? Can I get rid of all those extra files?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Apologies in advance for being really brief. I've only got a few moments.

You can set up a publishing destination and then associate it with your target so that Flare will put a COPY of the .chm there. To learn more about destinations, check out: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... ations.htm. That topic mentions having the publishing location be someplace on a network drive or server, but it can be on your local drive, too. See also http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... argets.htm.

(I think) you can also change the build location. I barely looked at this, but there might be info here: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... Target.htm.

Hope these give you enough to go on.

Bear in mind that .chm files can't run from network drives, so if you use the publishing feature, publish to a location on your computer.

Thank you for your answers. I simply want to avoid having to remember to manually copy and paste my chm file to the appropriate folder so it is checked into our source control correctly. If we have .chm files, they are distributed with our software, not run from a server. Thanks again.
