TOC Proxy: How do I make this look right?

Post by msun84 »

Good afternoon,

In my output file, I have a page that displays my TOC, however the formatting looks awful!

I can't find any way of working with this, all I have in the htm file is a gray box that says something like "output TOC Proxy". I guess I'm not all that proficient with Flare as I wish I was.

How do I change the format in this? Where am I going wrong?

What you need to keep in mind is the TOC proxy is used by Flare when creating printed output. If you are creating output via Word (for example) the TOC proxy is where Flare is telling Word to build the TOC, and it's actually Word picking up the heading styles.

Are you trying to create printed output or are you trying to get a TOC in online help? (I notice this is the MS HTML Help forum).

If you are struggling with printed TOCs I have a bit in my blog explaining their relationship with masterpages.

Well you have a point. After noodling on it for a while I came to the realization that having a page in my CHM for the table of contents is somewhat redundant (since it appears on the left portion of the help file).

I'll just get rid of it, since it's really not necessary :)
