Search bar in TopNav

Post by deeptikorwar »

Hi,

Is it possible to configure the Search bar differently on the Home page and in the topic pages?

I was under the impression that HomeSearchBar skin controls the look of the search bar on the Home page and the Search bar configuration in the Header section of Top Nav skin controls the look of the search bar on the other pages.

Has anyone tried configuring the two search bars differently?

Thanks,
Deepti

Yes, you can. Give it a try.

All pages will include the top nav, with its menu and search.
On the Home page though, the search bar in the top nav is hidden (in the home page CSS).

The search bar you can see on the home page is a search bar proxy, styled using the HomeSearchBar skin.

Thanks a lot Dave. It works. I don't know where I was wrong earlier. Maybe the Background: Transparent setting that I had and I could not notice the difference.

Thanks,

Dave,
This is in my home page CSS:

Code: Select all

.row.nav-search
{
	display: none !important;
}
Yet, the top-nav search bar remains on my home page. So, I have two search bars there. What do I need to do to the home page CSS to hide it?

Thanks,
Kathy

That's the same CSS as used by Flare's Top Nav factory templates, so it definitely should work.

My guess is that your home page isn't actually using the stylesheet; e.g.:
- The topic isn't linked to that stylesheet.
- You've set a master stylesheet for either the target or project (as setting a master stylesheet means Flare will ignore any stylesheet links in your topics and master pages)

My Home page was linked to the proper stylesheet, However, turns out there was a master stylesheet set at both the project and target level. Removing those setting took care of the dueling search bars.

Thanks!
