Help on Search Filters

Post by AFleischmann »

Hello,

I have tried out Search Filters and these will show up in my online help ( disabled at this moment):
https://www.digipara.com/Portals/0/MC/W ... efault.htm

After assigning the correct concept to my article, the related search will find the article properly. That worked fine.

Now my problem:
(a) I have > 1,100 articles
(b) I have 5 product lines (and created 5 concepts)
(c) is it truth that I have to assign the related concept to each of the 1,100 articles manually

Q1: Is there any automatism to do that?

Q2: Can I assign concepts to "Content Explorer" folders

Q3: How do I prevent writers of new articles to forget to assign the concept to new articles?

Thank you,
Andreas

1) Not really, but you could probably insert the HTML code for the concepts using a find-and-replace.

2) No, but you can easily assign concepts to multiple topics. You can drag multiple topics onto a concept in the Concepts panel, or right-click the concept and add multiple topics.

3) Hit them with a stick.

There's a "Topics without concepts" report that you can run in Analyzer or Flare 2018 to identify topics where the authors have neglected to add any concepts tags. Helps you figure out who needs to be gently reminded to tag things.

I've just been playing with this. The File List is really useful for bulk adding files to concept (or vice versa, depending on your point of view :) ). Especially in my case where I had top level folders for "products" so all topics in sub-folders need to have that product concept attached.
  1. Display the Concept Window (View > Concept Window)
  2. Display the File List (View > File List)
  3. Filter by Topic Files.
  4. Sort by Path.
  5. Click on the first topic in the product folder and shift+click on the last topic in the final sub-folder.
  6. Click and drag to the Concept.
