For TOC entries > properties > advanced, there is an option for When merging, replace node with merged TOC. The server-based auto-merge field has a list of possible behaviors, including (default).
What is the default behavior. I'm guessing Replace, based on the option name; however, that is not clear and I can't find it in the documentation.
