Prevent sidenav menu collapsing when option is clicked

Hi all,

We have online help using a sidenav skin. We use the same skin for multiple projects. For some reason in some projects, when you expand the sidenav and click an item, the sidenav stays in the same uncollapsed state. However, other times when a user clicks an item, the sidenav collapsed. This obviously makes it difficult for the user to navigate back to the topics before and after the one they just selected. Does anyone know why this inconsistent behaviour is displayed and what I can do to prevent the sidenav collapsing in that way?

That's how the side nav works, but I'm not aware of any way to change it.

* When you click the topics (the text bit) in the menu, it'll open the new topic/page, and the whole menu will refresh to only show the location of the current topic.
* When you click the arrows in the menu (to the right of the text), you can browse and open/close parts of the menu without navigating and refreshing the menu.

So I don't think it's inconsistent, once you know how it works.

If you want to navigate back, then just use the browser back button.

Do you have different mediums in your skin? Could it be that the one that collapses is because the user is using the Tablet medium and the one that doesn't collapse is using the web medium?

The Tablet and Mobile mediums don't have the Side Nav menu, they have the hamburger menu. The Side Nav menu is only in the Web medium.

As mentioned, the Side Nav always collapses when you navigate to a new topic. It only opens the part of the menu for the current topic location.

I misinterpreted "collapsed", probably because I was looking at mediums at the time. Sorry!
