Can you use variables in HTML5 headers?

Post by BrianAtInTouchHealth »

Hi,
We have a very large number of user guides that's continuing to grow so we would like to have the name of the current user guide in the header so users can instantly know which guide the'’re viewing. Here’s a mockup:

We already have a user guide variable so we like to use that in the header.
Here’s what we’ve tried:
  • We attempted to use the Running Variable in Header feature, but the topic “Practice Admin User Guide” appeared in the top of the white body space, and not in the header. We used the same code as the footer and again the variable appears in the white body space.
  • We attempted to add an element to the topicToolbarProxy, but none of the proxies or other selections includes just a simple variable.
  • We also tried adding the code to the header section of the master page.
Is JavaScript then needed for what seems is a common thing to want to do with HTML – to add a text variable to the header?
