Webhelp in Flare works great in Google Chrome

Post by forfear »

Just tested Flare's webhelp and it works without issues in Google Chrome.
so that's a level of compatibility no one needs to worry about

Which rendering engine does Google Chrome use? Did they use the one from Mozilla or did they roll their own?

I believe it uses Webkit (http://webkit.org/) for rendering - same as Safari. :) I like it so far, it's very smooth and fast.

Fast for sure, but where is the AdBlock plugin?

Well that's what I want to, however I'm guessing the early adopters of Chrome will be mostly FF users (or alternative browsers to IE) so I doubt they'll tolerate the lack of such add-ons for long. I miss Ad Blocker and No Script although as it's open source I expect someone to come up with the goods shortly!

Well, after thinking about this for a moment, Google makes tons of cash with web ads. So maybe it is that Chrome is to become _the_ browser and have no means to block ads. Although I don't see that happening.
Thanks for the info on the rendering engine, I just hope that Chrome is not again a browser as unintuitive and tricky to use like Safari. Safari, OS X, Vista, Chrome... they all strike me as putting looks over usability.

Well I think if they go down that route, they'll kill it. I can't see anyone tolerating a browser with ads whilst the likes of FireFox are about - I certainly wouldn't.

Usability wise, so far, so good. I especially like each tab being a separate process so if one chooses to crash, it doesn't take everything with it. I've barely scratched the surface of it but so far it's really easy to use, very clean and uncluttered - especially the one box for search and URL, that's brilliant!
