TOC not displaying

Post by DurtyMat »

I just created a webhelp from a project that I haven't had problems with before (knock on wood?) and now the TOC doesn't display when I generate a webhelp. Has anyone experienced something like this, and if so how did you fix it?

btw: using flare v4

Do you have MOTW enabled? Where is the help running, on your local computer or a web server?

ok, after some poking and prodding the toc only displays if a hyperlink on the main topic is clicked.

MOTW is enabled and it is running off the local pc (not a web or network server)

Is the toolbar displaying ok?

Also, if you set the skin to open to one of the other accordion items (e.g., set it to show the index by default), does that pane also not show up when you run the help?

The toolbar and the other accordion items display, but it is the same deal as the TOC where I have to navigate away from the page and then return to it before it will show up.

What happens if you use a real browser like FF or Opera? Does the ToC show then? If yes, then I'd assume it to be an IE6 specific issue that could be related with security settings not allowing particular scripts to run. Does the search work? If you have a different PC with IE6 available are the results reproducable?
