Database disk image is malformed - HELP!

Post by Robin Bird »

I am at a loss here. Not sure what to do to fix this issue or even what to ask. Anyone have advise on how to fix this?

It is always worth trying closing Flare, deleting everything below /Analyzer and /Output, and also, if you have them, below /FileSync and /SourceControl, then reopening Flare and your project, and trying again.

That gets rid of all sorts of problem. If not, can you tell us what you were doing when you get this message, and whether it happens every time you do whatever it is, or only sometimes, or only for some files or projects?

For Madcap reps, what is the cause of this error? We just upgraded to Flare 11 and this issue has occurred twice now. Doing these steps resolves it, but I'm interested in the cause.

Craig, these forums are for peer-to-peer support. We're all just users here, although occasionally a MadCap employee does stop by. If you need to speak to a MadCap rep, you'll need to contact MadCap directly.

Nita, this just occurred (3x since upgrading to the v11 branch) in my Flare v11.1.

As per the earlier suggestion, I will first remove everything below /Analyzer and /Output (and if present, everything under /FileSync and /SourceControl), then reopen Flare. I will also post a ticket with MadCap support and then update this thread when I receive an answer.

Good. :)

BTW, MadCap support answered my query about this issue by saying that the cause was unknown. :? Now that I've upgraded to v12, I will wait and see if it happens again.

Thank you, Msquared for your post!

I just moved to a new laptop, fired up my main Flare project in Flare and nearly freaked when I saw this error message!
Your advice definitely did the trick. Phew! Thank you!

Same here - even though this post is a few years old, I just saw this error for the first time. Thanks a lot for the solution!

I have the same problem today (after editing invalid characters in the xml editor i think)
- if this happens the Analsysis > Summary does not work.
- after clearing the above folders (default Madcap solution) it is solved.
