Hi all
I was working with Flare, being able to view my output fine. I kept my source files in a web based repository that is updated as I make changes in my project. My computer broke and I had to use a new one. I had to install flare to the new computer and download the source file from the repository. I downloaded it into the same folder as before, so the path to get to my project stays the same. I am able to build the output and once sent to the developers, they have no problem trying to integrate it into the application.
My problem is after building the output I can't view it. The web browser opens but I can't see my output. I can kind of see the shell, with the line running down the page (TOC is supposed to be to the left and the topic to the right).
I am in Flare V8, with IE 11 and the latest chrome (45).
Am I supposed to download something other than flare to be able to view the output? Or are the browsers blocking me from seeing content?
Thanks
Lynn

Re: Can't view output after reinstalling flare
Hi,
apart from Flare Microsoft .NET Framework should be installed, see the system requirements for further info:

I'm not sure, whether installing .net will solve your problem, but I think it is wise to follow the requirements before starting troubleshooting.

Re: Can't view output after reinstalling flare
I think the issue is that she's building from Flare 8, which predates IE11. (Lynn, if you're a guy, sorry to make assumptions. My son's 7th grade male Latin teacher was a "Lynn".) Flare 8 is pretty out of date by this point.
The following article in the MadCap Knowledge Base, although not directly describing the problem, I think can use the same remedy of manually adding the meta tag "<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />" within the head tag of a file (not sure which file...). The article explains it.

Lynn, if you use Flare 10 or Flare 11, that bit of code can be added by selecting the "Add meta tags to content" option in the HTML5 target, which has "<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />" already inserted by default, as described here in the Flare 11 Help: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare ... a_Tags.htm

Re: Can't view output after reinstalling flare
That's great! It worked! And yes, I'm a girl
Will I have to be doing this for every output? There isn't a one-for-all fix?
Also do you know if there is a solution for Chrome?
Thanks

Re: Can't view output after reinstalling flare
Glad we got that fixed!
Yes, you'll need to do this for any online output that you expect to be opened in Internet Explorer.
This solution has nothing to do with Chrome. Are you saying that the output also does not display correctly in Chrome? I have no idea why that would be. Someone else'll have to jump in.
