We have a pretty big project (thousands of topics) and in the Content Explorer we have sorted topics into folders, one for each chapter.
We also have "nested" TOCs, where we have a separate TOC for each chapter and one master TOC containing the sub-TOCs.
My question is, if someone tells me a filename without the path, is there any way in Flare that I can do a search to find the topic? I know it is possible in Windows but we were wondering if there's yet another whizzy thing in Flare that we don't know about.
Can you search for a topic if you only know its filename?

Re: Can you search for a topic if you only know its filename
The only way I know to do that within Flare is to right-click on any folder in the Content Explorer or Project Organizer and tell it to open the folder in Windows Explorer and then search. Still puts you into Windows Explorer, but you don't have to search for the folder you want. I use that a lot for large projects.

View | File List.
Type the file name (or a partial filename with * as wildcard) and press Enter to search for the file anywhere in your project.

Perfect. Just having the file list is good enough, if I sort it alphabetically.devjoe wrote:View | File List.

Use the Quick Launch bar for this and/or any file that might be in a project.
In Flare - Look in the upper right corner for it, It's located on the same bar as the Menu. If you don't see it, press CTRL+Q to open it.
Type in the file name or any part of the file name, it will be listed as a result below the commands section.
I'm surprised more people don't use this little gem to locate files in projects.

Honestly, I forgot it was there. That is a hidden gem! I'm going to pass it along to my team.rob hollinger wrote:I'm surprised more people don't use this little gem to locate files in projects.

Note that this isn't in versions previous to Flare 11.rob hollinger wrote:Use the Quick Launch bar for this and/or any file that might be in a project.
