page break after TOC heading

Post by jbananak »

Hi
I have a cover page and then a TOC topic.
The TOC topic has an h1 heading and the the madcap TOC proxy.
In pdf, TOC starts on the next page, not after the h1 heading, which remains on it's own.
I have set page-break-before the h1 heading to "always".
I have set page-break-after the h1 heading to "avoid"
I have set a page break in the TOC properties for the topic.
In the stylesheet, tocProxy, page-break-before is set to "avoid"

How do I get the TOC to start directly under the heading and not on a new page?

I get around this problem by creating a different page layout for use with the TOC topic. The First page in the Contents page layout contains the variable for "Contents" (in case I need to produce a different language version) formatted with the required style (in your case H1). The TOC topic itself JUST contains the TOCProxy, and when that topic is included in the main Flare TOC I do a chapter break, use the Contents page layout, and revert to my regular page layout for the next chapter, which is Chapter 1. (In the properties for that chapter in the Flare TOC remember to reset chapter number to 1).
Started as a newbie with Flare 6.1, now using Flare 2023.

You might check the page break properties of your H1 style in the CSS. I checked mine and have the page-break-inside to "avoid". I'm not sure if this would resolve the issue but something to try.
