Add Expires Headers

Post by bianca_writer »

Hello MadCappers,

How do you add "max-age" or "Expires headers" to static assets. I ran my site through various site speed optimization tools, and they all recommend using browser caching of static assets (css, js, images). To give more context, here are the tools I use:

Pingdom Tools: https://tools.pingdom.com
Web Page Test: https://www.webpagetest.org

This is either a MadCap question or a more general "how do websites" work question. I'm hoping I can do this in MadCap Flare, but I suspect I may need to change a server/hosting setting.

I posted this same question last year w/ no results, but I hope that someone will know what I'm talking about and will be able to help! viewtopic.php?f=9&t=30420

Maybe this? I'm fairly sure caching for images, js, css etc is server side only. And I don't have any experience with AWS, so no idea if this is even relevant to what you can see and access. But it seems to contain relevant words, so might help your search. :)

That is very helpful! Thank you for sharing. I'll have to share that info w/ my Web team (they control the AWS bucket) and see if they can set it up properly.

Thanks!
