"Style" dropdown showing incorrect styles

Post by oceanclub »

I'm editing a test topic file which is linked to a stylesheet. These styles are being used correctly in the WSIWYG "XML Editor".

Also, I have turned off the master stylesheet for the current project.

However, the styles from the stylesheet are not listed in the "Style" dropdown of the Home ribbon. I'm actually unsure where the styles it is displaying are even from.

Where does the "Style" dropdown get its styles from?

Are you using the correct medium? That sort of thing has often caught me out.

Hi,

Changing that value (default/print/non-print) doesn't appear to change anything.

OK, this is strange; it turns out styles are being displayed but as blank values.
For example, there's a gap in the dropdown where the h1 -> h4 styles should be. If I hover over the space, the invisible style is highlighted and I can click to apply it. But the style name itself isn't displayed. (The style colour isn't white in case you might think this is the reason) Baffling.

There is always the default fix - exit Flare, delete the Analyzer and Output folders and start again.

If that doesn't work, try the other default fix - do the same as the first but restart your machine.

One of those might get you back on track, but if not, does your stylesheet work as expected with another project? (Make a blank project and copy your stylesheet into it, then see what happens.) If not, then the problem is in the stylesheet, so that at least narrows things down a bit.

Let us know what happens and then we might be able to make other suggestions if necessary.

I realize this thread is old but just wanted to add ...

I don't think it's exactly the same situation as what oceanclub was experiencing, but something similar was happening with me in Flare whereby no styles were appearing in the Style dropdown. I would click the little arrow to open the dropdown, and nothing happened.

I tried deleting the contents of the Project → Users folder, and voila, the issue was resolved. I was able to see styles in the dropdown again.

I don't know why deleting the contents of that folder resolved the issue. But it did. So am sharing my experience in case it's useful for someone else.
