Unable to link from one PDF to a Bookmark in another PDF

Post by rkossik »

I have two projects. Project1 has a HTML5 target and a PDF target. Project2 has only a PDF target.

In Project2, I create a Named Destination (essentially a bookmark).

In Project1, I create a Hyperlink to that PDF/bookmark in Project2. Basically, the hyperlink in the markup looks like this: filename.pdf#bookmark

If I build the HTML5 and PDF in Project1, the following occurs:

1) in the HTML5 target, if I click on the link to the Project2 PDF/bookmark, it jumps directly there.

2) in the PDF target, if I click on the link to the Project2 PDF/bookmark, the link does not work at all.

Note, however, if I repeat this entire process, but without the bookmark, it works fine! So it appears that Flare is simply unable to correctly build a PDF target that has a hyperlink to an external PDF involving a bookmark.

Makes no sense. Is this a bug, or am I missing something obvious?

It's a bug. The PDF linking should work as you described. MC uses the APOSE PDF library rather than Adobe's library, which may be responsible for the break.
Trent.

Certifiable.

Agreed sounds like a bug.
