User Name as a Variable
User Name as a Variable
Is there a way to get the User Name as a variable? The User Name is in File > Options > Review > User > User Name (and Initials). I would like to add an Author variable to my Meta Tags set, but I can't obtain the User Name as a variable. Am I missing something or is there another way to get the user name programmatically? I am trying to make make meta data entry as automated as possible for my writers.
Re: User Name as a Variable
Do you use source control? If so you could create a User condition tag set and add it to your .gitignore so each author can maintain their own version of the set, which could then be used in meta tags.
Re: User Name as a Variable
That is a great idea. Yes, we're bound to Central. Thanks!
Re: User Name as a Variable
I ran into the same issue when I was trying to automate my meta tags for a big project. I couldn’t find a way to get the User Name as a direct variable either. What worked for me was creating a macro that pulls the User Name from the settings and inserts it where I needed it.
