Absurd Number of Span Tags

Hey y'all, quick question about central. My company has recently switched over to using Central for collaboration between subject matter experts and myself. When I receive the files back from my SME's and open it in Flare there are span tags everywhere. Any ideas why or how to stop it from happening? I'd very much like to avoid right click, unbinding every single span tag I receive from them.

Are your SMEs making any changes? I notice that Flare will insert span tags when it finds a need to for example when applying formatting or conditional text to text strings inside an element.

@AlexFox yes my SMEs are making changes but it's inserting these span tags on pretty much every item they change. P tags, li, ol, it doesn't matter, it throws a span tag around it.
