OutOfMemoryException error when compiling Word

Post by NigelBennett »

Hi all

I recently upgraded to Flare 4.0. Now when I attempt to compile a Word output, the compilation proceeds fine until I suddenly get the message "Internal error: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException'was thrown." and the compilation stops.
There is no problem with the project - it compiles fine in 3.1.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a 4.0 bug?

Standard answer for exceptions:

Make sure you have the latest .Net framework
Make sure you have the latest updates for Word
Reboot

If you still have exceptions after these basic steps you can lodge a bug report, or contact Madcap support.

And also, since the message tells you that the system is out of memory, how much memory and free drive space is available?

All. Thanks for your comments. However the problem appears to have evaporated. Having received the same error message on 5-6 consutive compilations over several days, I can now compile without problems. Thinking about the memory issue, I have tried loading up the pc with masses of programs running simultaniously etc. to no effect. Intermittent faults make me nervous - the problem is bound to re-surface 2 days before a product release. But OK, in the mean time I'll live with the insecurity... :|
