I'm sure this is simple (although I thought I'd set it up correctly):
I have a tag with the name: p.tableCaption
It has mc-auto-number-format as: {b}Table {chapnum}-{n+}: {/b}
What I want to have is a chapter with multiple topics displaying:
Table 1-1 (first table)
Table 1-2
Table 1-3
Table 1-4 (etc.)
But it will ONLY do this for individual topics, not multiple topics under the same chapter.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Table Autonumber Captions
Re: Table Autonumber Captions
When you say it's only doing it topic-by-topic, do you mean that's the way it appears in the XML Editor, or is it also doing that in the output? If it's only that way in the XML Editor, it's because the numbers are sequenced at build time based on the order of the topics in the TOC. So every topic will start with 1, and if there's a second table in that same topic then the second table will be 2. It's not until you build the output that the actual numbers will be calculated and substituted with the correct value, like 33 and 34 for example.
If it's also doing it in the output, then I think it's based on whether or not you properly set a chapter break at every chapter in the TOC.
