Resolving Multiple Variable Sets

Post by Bonnie Kern »

We are single-sourcing content, which has been imported from RoboHelp into Flare, with additional content that has previously been migrated from another application into Flare. During the import, Flare appears to import the existing RoboHelp variable set, naming it Primary for each project.

We now have two variable sets in the imported project: our Original variable set and the new Primary variable set. In our single-sourcing efforts, we eventually want to use a single variable set.

Which is the most effective way to combine the two sets into one? The option we are considering is as follows:
1. Choose one of the two variable sets to be used.
2. Copy the variable definitions from the Original variable set into the Primary variable set.
3. Use Homesite to quickly replace the Primary.variable_name entries to Original.variable_name in each Flare project.

Does a more efficient way exist?

That sounds about right.

Welcome to the forums bonnie.

BTW, if you have analyzer sitting around you could use that to fix the variables as well i think.
If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release
