Dear all,
it does not seem possible to use variables in glossary definitions, is this correct? Or did I miss something?
(It would be nice for branding program names...)

No, I've submitted feature requests for that, along with the ability to do some more advanced formatting, if only the ability to use multiple paragraphs in the definition.
