Cannot find 'file ../output/skin/toolbar.htm error

Post by Jeff Lowe »

I compiled a Webhelp project in flare v7 and an error occurs when I try to view the output . The project is on a network drive. Strangely, the error does not occur from my co-worker's computer. We both use Internet Explorer 8.

Windows Internet Error message
Cannot find 'file ../output/skin/toolbar.htm. Make sure the path or internet connection is correct.

I ran the Flare v7.1 update and the error still occurs.

Any ideas??
Thanks.

Are you both using the same browser or different browsers (or different versions of the same browser)?

If you have another browser on your computer, try viewing the help using that browser. Even if that's not the browser your end users will be using. If you can view the help on your computer using the other browser, then you've narrowed it down to a setting in your IE8 that's causing problems. I've never played with the compatibility modes in IE, but I know there are options for it and it could be you're running in a mode that the other user (and your end users) won't be running in.
