This program cannot display the webpage
This program cannot display the webpage
I am trying to publish a new HTML help file, and when I try to view the priamary after building, the IE window opens with the following error:
This program cannot display the webpage.
Any ideas? when I view the URL, the Startup Topic is not what I have set in my project. I have tried so many different things and nothing seems to change.
Help!

Re: This program cannot display the webpage
Are you building HTML Help as in a .chm file, or are you building WebHelp output (in which case this post is in the wrong forum)?
If it is a .chm file, you can't run them from a network drive or a web server. That's a Microsoft security restriction.

It's a .chm and I have been able to veiw previous files that I have created. I can open the one I created in February and it is fine.

Where on the system does the CHM reside? Copy it into your user folder and try again, does that make a difference?

The original location has been my user folder. I have tried to generate it in other locations and it does not work either.

Does it work on a different PC? If that is a No as well, ask support to take a look at it.

Re: This program cannot display the webpage
Did you ever resolve this problem? If so, what is the solution?
Re: This program cannot display the webpage
wondering if you ever got this resolved. I have the same issue with HTML help. Resides locally on my pc. Using DoctoHelp modular format.
When I click on a link to a popup from a linked module, the popup appears but I cannot then access any other topic in the original submodule .chm . Have to close and reopen.
This has been going on for two years. cannot get resolution

I suggest that you post your question at the Doc2Help forums (http://our.doctohelp.com/doc-to-help-forums/), rather than here in the MadCap Flare forums.togal wrote:wondering if you ever got this resolved.
