Can't install Flare 8

Hi,

I am having issues when trying to install Flare 8.

I get to the stage where it starts installing. But then get an error which says "Unable to install because a newer version of this product is already installed".

Not sure how I could have a newer version of Flare!

I have checked the directory where I am installing it and have removed all instances of older versions but this hasn't helped.

No-one else in my team has encountered this, they have been able to install Flare 8 with no issues.

Any suggestions or help most appreciated.

Were you part of the v8 beta? If so, you'll need to uninstall the beta version first. If you did uninstall and you're still getting that error, then check the program files folder to see if there are any remnants of the beta and if so, delete them. If that doesn't work, then you might have to contact support.

I was part of the v8 beta, and thought I had already deleted everything.

While there was nothing in C:\Program Files (x86)\MadCap Software, a search of my C drive turned up some rogue files which have now been deleted.

Though the install still doesn't work.

I had a look in the Control Panel and it says Flare V8 is still installed, however trying to uninstall doesn't work because it can't find the files to delete. *sigh*

Off to support I go...

Use RevoUninstaller or Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. That will remove the entry in the programs list.

There may be something in the registry that needs to be removed.
Open the registry to the following location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MadCap Software

If there is a 'Flare' key in the MadCap Software group, select it and remove it.

Make sure you downloading the latest verion (8.02):
