Lingo v5 Crashes on Startup

Post by dinklerj »

Hello all,

Lingo started misbehaving today. It crashes immediately on start-up. Because I have Visual Studio installed, I was able to capture the crash in the debugger. Output follows:

An unhandled exception of type 'System.Exception' occurred in B3.IndexingKit.dll

Additional information: Failed to load SQL Search Database: Unable to load the native components of SQL Server Compact corresponding to the ADO.NET provider of version 8082. Install the correct version of SQL Server Compact. Refer to KB article 974247 for more details.

I have SQL Server Compact 3.5S2 for x86 and x64 installed, which is what the article refers to. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing Lingo.

System is Windows 7 Enterprise, 64bit, SP1.

Thanks,

- jp

Try uninstalling SQL Server Compact, uninstall Lingo, then reinstall Lingo. That should pop in the version of SQL Server Compact that Lingo expects. Not sure if VS will then use it without problems and if a VS update doesn't break it again. If that doesn't help contact support.

Yep. Completely uninstalling SQL clients, Lingo, and then re-installing worked.
