Top part of screen disappearing
Top part of screen disappearing
Have Flare 9. About once per day, the top part of the screen (with all the drop-down menus) blanks out, and I can't figure out how to bring it back other than to click the red X and restart the program. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Re: Top part of screen disappearing
Just started a new job with new-ish PC and it happens when I remote desktop to my PC and run Flare. All of the ribbon bar icons and selections disappear.
Re: Top part of screen disappearing
I've seen mine go black when I'm using a large amount of memory on my system; by no means all, but a significant chunk (I think I saw another post recently complaining about Flare not using memory above about 4GB? but could be mis-remembering that one... )
Sometimes just moving the window around will get the ribbon to re-draw for me.
Also, there were reported performance issues with .NET 4.5, which downgrading to 4.0 apparently fixed - you could check your versions and see if that made a difference.

Ah, theoretically 9.1.1 had a patch for some issues with .net 4.5, so maybe not the same issue, but it could be worth looking in to.

Finally, remoting could be causing painting issues - I know when I've used remote access things are very laggy. Maybe changing to the standard menu rather than the ribbon would help as there would be less to draw?
Hope something helps,
Amber

Do you have the same problem when using the tool strip? You can switch that from File > Options > Interface.

Re: Top part of screen disappearing
Just lost the top part again and thought I'd return here to see whether anyone had experienced the same problem. Thanks for the helpful thoughts.

Re: Top part of screen disappearing
This happens to me occasionally but I haven't detected a particular pattern. I suspect it happens when I have a lot of programs running. And, now that I think of it, I think it happens only when Flare is actively hitting a source control server. To fix the issue, I'm forced to use Task Manager to end Flare. It's an annoyance yes, but I've never had any harm come to the project or any of its files, or the files on the source control server.

I don't lose the ribbon, but usually by the end of the day I have lost the outer frame (with the Minimise, Maximise and Close buttons). But I think this is a Windows thing, not a Flare thing, as it also happens in Internet Explorer. I've not noticed it happen in any other application. The functions are still available though. If you right click where the top bar would be, you still get the menu, with Move, Size, Minimise, Maximise, Close etc.
I have got the ribbons set up so that I only see the tabs, and not the functions on the ribbon. I have to click on a ribbon tab to expand it.

Yes, I experience the same thing when I do a remote desktop; I lose the top ribbons. It does create an error message that I can't seem to get to appear at the moment because Flare just goes belly-up and crashes.
Will post it when I get it again.
The only way I've found to deal with it at the moment is to close and re-open Flare again. Fixes it but doesn't prevent it happening unfortunately.

Just got the error which says "The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the Displays Manager."
I can't say that I've found a way to fix it (not the right driver probably) but I do get that error when the ribbon disappears.
