MadCap Logo (that big round one) - changing

Post by DebB09 »

I've changed the small MadCap logo on the right side of the toolbar to my own graphic.
I've changed it's hover help to something I want.

Now...
When the logo is clicked, how do I change the large, round MadCap "About" graphic to my own "About" graphic?

I found something that I thought would be the place to change it but it looks like it requires Javascript (which I don't know).
It was in Skin | Logo | Basic | OnClick.

If the answer to this is already in here, I'm sorry, I couldn't find it.

Thanks

Skin Editor > WebHelp Setup. In the About Box area, click the Bitmap button and navigate to the image you want to use.

Thank you so much. This is so easy - when you know where to look.

On this subject, how can I disable the click altogether so nothing gets displayed?

Thanks!

If you want to keep the logo but stop the about box appearing, for ToolbarItem > Logo try setting the Onclick property to javascript: void(0);

If you just want to remove the logo altogether, set the Icon to none.

Thanks, Dave! That javascript is exactly what I needed--I want to keep the logo but not the display box.

I just noticed the logo has a tooltip that says "Logo icon." Where do I disable that, too?

I know I've seen that setting somewhere, but I can't find it now (of course).

Thanks,
Diana

PS--In the skin Styles, under ToolbarItem > Logo > Basics, there is not a "Tooltip" property as there is with the other toolbar items. Putting "none" in the LogoAlternateText actually makes "none" the tooltip instead of "Logo icon" and putting just a space causes the tooltip to say, "null"--there must be a setting somewhere to fix this.

I don't think you can switch off a tooltip - maybe just set it to your company name.

I beleive you can delete the tooltip text, and that way it won't appear

That doesn't work. If there is nothing at all in the setting, the tool tip says Logo icon. If you put just a space, it says null. If you set the text to None, it says, None.

There really should be a way to disable that tooltip--you can disable all the others. If there isn't a way, then I think that's a bug.

Yep, if you put in nothing, i.e. (not set), then it defaults to 'Logo icon'.

I never realised you could enter the text "none" for the other tooltips to stop them appearing. Bit of a weird one!

I read the part about disabling the other tooltips somewhere in the forum, but I haven't needed to try it myself.

I called tech support to see if I missed a setting somewhere for the logo tooltip. Ryan opened a bug/enhancement for me, so I'm sure the fix will show up in a future release at some point. In the meantime, I'll put something else in the logo text so it has something meaningful there.
