Hello,
When I first received this product, I spent a lot of time making new databases for testing and learning the tool. Now I have an abundance of unnecessary Translation Memories. Does anyone know how to delete a database or is it even possible?
Thanks,
Amanda

Re: Translation Memory Removal
You could run a quick command line query to drop (SQL parlance for delete the database) the test databases you created. but the actual command escapes me at this point.
but i'll show you a quick graphical method to perform the task you need.
Go to Microsoft downloads.
If you are using SQL Server Express, search for SQL Server Express Management Studio.
That is the administration console for SQL Server Express editions. Download it.
Log in to Database Engine.
Expand the Database node. See attachment.. You'll see your translation memory databases there. Delete those.
Leave everything else you don't recognize as they are.
That's all

I was able to use this method to delete the database from the SQL server, but is there a way to delete it from within Madcap Lingo (so it isn't populated in the "Translation Memory" list within Lingo dialogs)?

Re: Translation Memory Removal
According to tech support, you currently can't delete the TM from Madcap Lingo (known bug that they hope to fix in the next version). The list is populated from the registry and the only way to clear it to uninstall/reinstall the program.

Re: Translation Memory Removal
You could try searching the registry for the name of the TM and when found delete the key. Worst case Lingo stops working and in that case you can still reinstall.
