I just edited my <img> tag to resize all the images to be 7 inches wide. I did this so that when users print the topic, they will get to see the whole graphic on the page. This also takes care of Word output.
Now, the graphic look very small in the HTM output. I get around that by making it a thumbnail that opens a new window when clicked yet the thumbnail prints at no wider than 7 inches.
However, the image look so small in comparison to the rest of the text and tables in the topic. I can't figure out why. Should I be using a different unit of measurement for the static width? .em, for example?
This is a graphic of the bottom of the graphic and the table underneath it.
See the difference in the width?

Re: Recommended measurements for images
From your screen image, it looks as if the aspect ratio is not being maintained. Make sure to set the <img> tag's height property to Automatic. Flare will then maintain the aspect ratio of width-to-height.
Make sense?

Re: Recommended measurements for images
The aspect ratio for the height is set to automatic. The problem is not that the graphic is distorted, the problem is that it's so much more narrow than the rest of the text/tables on the page.
Re: Recommended measurements for images
What I do for printed projects is in the stylesheet for the print medium is to set the max-width to whatever width it is I've decided is best for the printed page (I don't actually change the image itself, just how it renders in the printed output). I also prefer placing my images inside a specially styled paragraph tag that is set to display the image centered on the page. I find it more aesthetically pleasing and less distracting that way.
