Transparencies
Transparencies
We have multiple docs using the same topics but with images that vary only in details, such as a single component. Is there a way to import jpegs of the components into the master image with a transparent background (or a tiff for that matter). Unfortunately the components sit within circular windows showing an "enlargement" of the component in question.

Re: Transparencies
My understanding is that only GIF and PING files can have transparent backgrounds. I know JPEG format doesn't support transparency, and I don't think TIFFs do either.
Hope this helps!

Re: Transparencies
This might be possible, depending on what you want to do with your images.
You can compose images in Capture that have a transparency set on a layer in the image. So you could open an image (in any format), then copy and paste it as a layer, and then set a colour in that layer to be transparent. To do this, open the image Properties, and on the Image tab set the Transparency color.
(Note that Capture ignores transparent colours already in your images, so even if your PNG/GIF has a transparency, you still have to manually set the colour to be transparent again in Capture.)
When it comes to opening or saving images, Capture doesn't support transparencies whatsoever in any image format - although PNGs and GIFs support them. Capture will ingore transparent colours in any files you open, and there's no option to set a transparency when you save a file (in any format).
So, if you want your final image itself to be saved with a transparent colour, e.g. if your image needs a curved edge; then you can't do that from Capture. You would have to save the image from Capture, then open it in a program that supports transparencies (e.g. GIMP which is free) and save it again and set the transparent colour.
