To me it's way too convoluted to duplicate a manual in Excel using topic and desc as the columns (with limits on cell height involved). Then go back remove links, replace icons/graphics with <xyz graphic here> type comments, and the list goes on. It is then run through an Access database and scripted into the application.
So I am trying to figure a way to make a target using the topic and and desc tags. If I use a Relationship table where concept = topic and task = desc will it create XML if I create a DITA target? I looked at DITA some but not sure what the Flare export actually looks like.
If I can come up with something to get it into an XML format or something easily converted I can get away from Excel. To me it's such a waste of time to say nothing of defeating the purpose of migrating eveything to Flare so we can work towards single-sourcing.
Thanks, Deb
