Storing project on Webfolder?
Storing project on Webfolder?
Is there any issues regarding use of Webfolders (webdav) as a storage point for Flare project? Two persons should be able to do edits at same time. Maybe even additional users with X-Edit (free version) would access this folder from time to rime...

Technically not as far as I can think, but the connection speed is a major issue. Many report performance problems when accessing project files from local network shares. Also, you may run into issues with commonly used files (project files). I'd try it out with the sample project and see how that works out.

I've just tested it... It's not working for me as it should... It could be due to our server settings. Off to find another solutionRamonS wrote:Technically not as far as I can think, but the connection speed is a major issue. Re: Storing project on Webfolder?
Flare 7 does not seems to understand WebDAV at all. If I to point it to a webdav location, it says the file is missing. If I then give a validate HTTP url for a file, say the CSS, it still reports the file as missing even though the CSS is part of working project.
Clearly it is confused. Perhaps WebDAV support has been added in Flare 8.

Re: Storing project on Webfolder?
I found a way to do this in Flare 7:
You need to install NetDrive so you can create a mapped drive to your WebDav location. Once that's done, you can create a destination in Flare to that location.
Then in the target:
Select the destination from the publishing tab.
Build the Help
Click the Publish button after the Help is built. Flare copies the output files to the destination.
This works real well. And remotely too. From outside my company's firewall, I got a 13MB to transfer in 10 minutes.
And it smart enough to transfer only the files that have changed. Very nice.
