I've got a rather large project, and even with three filters the search results are too numerous and improperly ranked. Management has decided our current search results are not satisfactory. My proposal was to add new concept markers to the general topics and add a 'product basics' search filter, which I did. The result was very positive, and really focuses the results to the most relevant content.
Here's the question: Can I use my 'product basics' filter as the default search option? Or, maybe there's another way to go about this. Defaulting to the most general search (without a filter) is really not an acceptable solution for us. Any ideas?

Re: Using a filter as the default search option
From reviewing the doc and the lack of response, I assume the answer to this is 'no, the default search is always the comprehensive one.' But this begs the question: Is there any way to eliminate advanced topics from the default search function, but make them available in a filter (or some other way)?
Re: Using a filter as the default search option
I don't think so. You can hide them from the search function, but the filter option is a sub-set of that search function, so if it's not in the overall search then it won't be returned under the filtered results.Mark Johnson wrote:Is there any way to eliminate advanced topics from the default search function, but make them available in a filter (or some other way)?

Sounds like a good candidate for a feature request.
