Can I use FLV video files in Flare topics?

Post by kafkascampi »

Hi

I would like to include some videos in my webhelp topics. I have Screenflow, which makes MOVs, and I can convert these to FLVs. Further conversion to SWFs results in poor quality videos. I'm something of a novice with video--is there a way to embed a player in my webhelp that will play my FLV videos in the Flare help topics?

The code you'd use to embed it in WebHelp is the same as you'd use for a normal web page - the next step is to find out how you'd do that.

Have a search for FLV browser plug-ins; although if your users are going to have to install a plug-in, then I suppose you could just as equally use a plug-in that handles MOV files (Quick Time).

If the FLV is in the Project files, you could Insert Image, and Change it to point to the FLV, ,may not look pretty thou

If you have Dreamweaver you can use it to create a "skin" for the FLV player, which will generate the skin files and code. You then copy the skin files into the same folder as your topic, I believe, copy the FLV file into a folder somewhere, and copy the code from Dreamweaver into your topic's page code (and change the location where it's pointing to the FLV file). I haven't actually tried that in Flare, but it should work.
