Has anything been changed in Flare to provide the capability to request that images be included in the .doc or .docx files?
It would be good for SCM to do a build without having to manipulate the Word document outside the scripted build process.
Flare output of Images in Word
Re: Flare output of Images in Word
You mean to have them embedded, rather than linked? As far as I know, this never worked in Flare. It has always linked instead of embedded. IIRC, MadCap told me it was a limitation of the way they deal with Word.

Re: Flare output of Images in Word
We have also just realized that our images are not embedded into our Word output. Is this something that is on the Flare functionality wish list? We need to be able to send a Word version of our files that contain 200 images to our customers and we have ALWAYS been under the impression that the images would be embedded. Any news on this?

Re: Flare output of Images in Word
One way to get them embedded is to save them under the older .doc format. There is another way, which of course I cannot remember now. As far as I know, linking the images is also the default for Word.

But we have saved the Word file in.doc format and the images are still in the Resources folder.

Re: Flare output of Images in Word
No luck - it's been on the wish list for a long time. The workaround is documented in the KB article:
http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/default_csh.htm#OUTPW1010F
Saving as DOC won't help (and images are embedded by default in Word).
and you can add to the feature request list at:

Re: Flare output of Images in Word
Word has an option to embed the images.
1. With your Word document open, click the Office button*, top-left of the window.
2. Select Prepare > Edit Links to Files.
3. Select and highlight the images you want to convert from the list.
4. Select the option to Save picture in document.
5. Click the Break Link button.
6. Click Yes to confirm.
