Index and Search Issues in Merged Projects

Post by Jodie Boedie »

Hello All

I have 1 master and 64 slave projects. I've set all skins to have binary indexes in all projects. I compile each sub-project. I compile the master.

Issue #1 - the end of the build for the master says "master.chm not generated" yet I see the file with the current date and time in the output folder. Any ideas what the message means?

Issue #2 - the indexes from the merged projects do not show up in the master. Only the master index entries appear.

Issue #3 - none of the topics show up in the search, not even the topics from the Master.

I've read other posts about re-registering a file, but I have no idea how to do that.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Jodie

Go to your Madcap install directory, Resources/BIN folder, e.g.
C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V6\Flare.app\Resources\Bin
And double click RegisterItcc.bat. Hopefully that sorts out your Search issues.

As for the Index, I remember something about merged CHMs requiring binary indexes (in your skin, make sure HTML Setup>Index options has Binary selected), and the master CHM must not be "empty" for the other files to work correctly (I think at least one index entry, but it looks like you've done this).

Cheers
Greg
