toc empty ?

Post by urbanequokka »

i have built my webhelp project and noticed something odd:

1. if i open the (built) help from an href in my web page, the table of contents on the right hand side flashes a 'loading' progress bar, but then shows nothing at all (the glossary appears correctly, as does all the other help content), but...
2. if i go to the generated output folder in windows explorer and open the 'default.htm' file, everything appears correctly, including the table of contents.

any ideas why the table of contents is empty and how to fix this ?

thanks !

Hi,

Were you able to find a solution to this? I am having the same problem with Flare 5.

Thanks

What's the URL you're using in the href in the web page?

Hi,

I am trying to browse to:

http://serverip/webhelpplus/default.htm

I get my webhelp pages, but no TOC.

The documentation talks about an AutoMergeCache folder being created on the web server, but I don't find this.

Regards

Hi Urbanequokka,

I have found my solution.

If yuo browse to the following page on the webserver itself:

http://serverip/webhelpplus/service/service.asmx

(Actual path will vary according to where your files are and your directory structure)

Then click on the GetToc link, and then the Invoke button near the top.

I then got an error log type output that told me that the AutoMergeCache folder could not be created. i.e. a Permissions issue.

I then went to my root folder of my web help, WebHelpPlus in my case, and checked the security granted to the IIS_WPG account. In my case, this was read only, so it could not create the folder structure. I changed this to "Modify" and tried the web help again, and this time I got my TOC :-)

I hope this helps.

I'm having a similar issue with my ToC, and thought this fix might help, but I'm confused by the following section:

Where are the "GetToc" link and "Invoke" button supposed to appear? At the top of what?

Hi,

When you browse to the following url your should get a page that has the Get TOC link:

http://serverip/webhelpplus/service/service.asmx

Nevermind; I found the WebHelp Plus FAQ in Flare's help that told me everything I needed to do to get things working. Thanks, though!
