"Search" function error in HTMLHelp

Post by benpal »

Problem
The "Search" function in all HTMLHelp files generated with Flare displays a message "No topics found".
The problem can be traced back to the file itcc.dll not being registered in Windows.

Solution
Apparently the Flare developers knew about this potential problem and therefore provide a batch file to correct it:
This file is called
RegisterItcc.bat
and an be found in
C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V6\Flare.app\Resources\Bin

Double-clicking (executing) this batch file will register itcc.dll and correct the problem.

This dll is deregisterd/corrupted when you uninstall a previous version of Flare after you have done an upgrade. Another solution is to simply reinstall the HTMLhelp compiler. Its actually a pretty insidious bug as you may not notice till its too late that you have lost the search function in your chm file that previously worked fine.
