Image path linking to wrong images in PDF output

Post by Darci »

Some of my image links are linking to the wrong image sub-folder when I build a PDF output. While this might be related to using similar file names, this is not occurring for all image links. It seems odd, since this is not happening in the preview or in the WebHelp output. I have a ticket into MadCap support. I tried finding a cause/solution in the forums, but I did not see a simliar issue in the list of topics since v6 was released. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

What version of Flare are you using? Prior to version 6, there was a setting in all targets to generate resized copies of scaled images, but that option indicated that it was done automatically for PDF and XPS and maybe one other output type. In Flare v6, that option is no longer visible in PDF targets, but is still visible in WebHelp and some of the other targets.

If that option is enabled and you manually scale an image down in a topic, then Flare will leave the original file alone and create a new version of the file at the smaller size and will change the href tag to point to that new image. And the new image file will have an almost identical name but it'll be appended with some text, but I can't remember what. Since that's supposed to be automatic for PDF output, then that might be what's happening. However, is that actually a problem in your PDF output? Are your images not showing up in the output?
