Creating Note style with Note above text

Post by C Nugent »

After searching the forum and not finding an answer, I thought I would share the trick I finally found for creating a paragraph Note style where "Note" is built into the style and appears above the text without using a soft return.
Example of results:

Steps:
1. In css, create span.Note_Important_Caution.
2. For the span.Note_Important_Caution, format the Font settings (in this example, Arial, 10pt, Bold).

3. In the span.Note_Important_Caution Block area, set "display" to "block".
4. Create p.Note, and format as needed.
5. Switch the Simplified view. Right-click on p.Note. Select Properties.
6. Select Auto-number tab.

7. In the Enter format area, type Note.
8. In the Span Class drop-down, select Note_Important_Caution.
9. Click OK.
10. Apply p.Note to a paragraph.

I hope this helps. It means we can support two different mediums (help and print) with two very different note styles without applying any local formatting, such as a soft return to drop the note content below the "Note" text.

Very cool!

Weclome to the forums. We did something a while ago with Note, Tip, Danger, Caution, and Warning with our stylesheet. We had the text (for example, Note) appear in bold and inserted before the rest of the note text, then added a border and background color for online outputs. Seems odd that something similar to that wasn't already on the forums, but trying things out and making something work on your own was probably pretty awesome. Keep it up!
Flare: I bought it ... so that means I can break it, right?
