Typically I wouldn't want to do this.. but I'm having to capture and recapture stuff so much using a combination of programs that the prop files are becoming cumbersome... I thought i remembered someone mentioning or that I saw a way to turn off that automatic prop file creation. But I can't find such an option within Capture.
Anyone?
THANKS!

How do I avoid creating a PROP file.

Unless it is a feature of v5, you can't turn off .props files.
Why are they cumbersome, out of curiosity?

Re: How do I avoid creating a PROP file.
sort of hard to explain... but I create my graphics using 3 packages... the last usually being Madcap.. but.. if i update the images using either or both of the other tools, then save it, because of the props, it doesn't update.. so i have to go in and delete the props, then go back and save.
Like I said, I don't have to work this way often.. but sometimes it would be nice to turn that off. I thought I had remembered someone mentioning a way to do it, but I guess I imagined it.. no surprise there! lol
Thanks anyway.. i'll just muddle a long as i have been!

Re: How do I avoid creating a PROP file.
The .props file contains the original image and all of the stuff (callouts, arrows, effects) that have been applied so the writer can return to the original image, a feature I have not found in other screen capture software. (Using layers in photosuop file came close.)
The .props file is not required by any other program except Capture, so it can be deleted or the final image moved to another location where it becomes a plain ghraphic as if created in one of those other programs.
The .props file is one of Capture's outstanding features. If you have to use another graphics program it suggests Capture is not offering functions the other program has, so you should add an anhancement request here.

If you never need to edit the image in capture you can delete the props file, its just help capture with the layers that you add. if you remove the props file, the image will be flat, and your text boxes and features won't be able to removed..

Well, actually Flare will require .props files if you conditionalize images. So it is possible to have them in a Flare-only project. We have several images which are conditionalized in a common project for importing into multiple other Flare projects, and each have a .props.SteveS wrote:The .props file is not required by any other program except Capture, so it can be deleted or the final image moved to another location where it becomes a plain ghraphic as if created in one of those other programs.
EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't see what forums this was in...
