For Flare 6.1, two separate users, two separate computers (ASUS laptop W7 64-bit, IBM Lenovo XP 32-bit), two separate copies of Flare 6.1, two separate copies of full-feature Adobe Acrobat 9.
Does anyone happen to have any idea why Flare builds pretty PDFs on my W7 64-bit laptop, but not on another similarly equipped computer?
Flare 6.x has always generated my PDFs beautifully. The Calibri font (my customers' choice) renders wonderfully and everything is just peachy.
But if a co-worker who also has Flare 6.1 and Adobe Acrobat 9 takes a copy of a project I created, then generates a PDF, in the PDF the Calibri looks clunky (almost but not quite all-caps'ish) and ill-spaced. The results are decidedly NOT beautiful.
I began by viewing a pretty and not-pretty PDF on my computer to ensure that it wasn't just a screen settings or display rendering problem: The not-pretty PDF remained not-pretty.
Next, in Acrobat I compared the two PDFs' list of embedded fonts. The lists are IDENTICAL; both the pretty and not-pretty PDFs seem to contain exactly the same set of imported fonts.
So, does anyone happen to have any idea why Flare builds pretty PDFs on my computer, but not on my co-workers essentially similarly equipped computer?
Cheers & thanks,
Riley

Hi Riley,
Have you opened a pdf created on your colleague's machine on your's? And vice versa? I'm wondering about display settings here...
WEhat are print copies of each machine's pdf like?
Once they've cretaed an 'ugly' pdf, what happens if you try to recreate it?
The other thing I would check is the default settings used in Acrobat on both machines.

Calibri is a relatively recent font, and I'm not sure that it's supplied with Windows XP (it's in Vista/W7); but if you're using Office 2007+, then it would be installed with that.
So could it be that there's a problem with the Calibri font on the XP machine?
Does the font appear ok in Flare or Word documents on the XP machine?

The idea of printing 'em to see how they compare is a good one.
That's something to think about. My colleague probably did get Calibri with Office 2007.but if you're using Office 2007+, then it would be installed with that.
Cheers & thanks to all who've responded -- to be continued,

Yep, Calibri doesn't come pre-installed on XP, it first shipped with Vista. I believe if you download the compatibility pack then this will put Calibri on the XP machine and might make your PDFs beautiful once again.
