Another Publishing Question
Another Publishing Question
Our project is extremely large. A few months ago the "build and publish" time jumped up to about 2 hours, when it used to take about 60-90min. The new times are: Build (30-45 min) and Publish (60-90min). We have the target set to a server drive and we were told that if we moved it to the local C drive, the publish time would go back down. I did a test publish twice on the C drive and it is still taking about 2 hours to build and publish. We have it set to only upload changed files. Any ideas?
Re: Another Publishing Question
For the 60-90min publish, do you mean just the actual publishing part - i.e. copying the files to the destination, and not including build time?
That seems a staggering amount of time - for example, my 2500 topic WebHelp project takes about 15mins to build and less than 20 secs to publish - the publish destination is a folder on our network.
I know publishing to a destination using ftp (i.e. to a webserver) might take a bit longer, but 60-90min is a huge amount of time. Publishing to your C drive should be very quick, that should take seconds not 60-90min - assuming that's the time to publish only to the C drive destination (and not all your destinations).
