Error message when opening topics

Post by EmilyM »

Hi,
My Flare projects and topics were opening and behaving fine last week. This morning I have found that everytime I open a topic or the TOC to edit something I get an Object reference not set to an instance of an object message. I have had a look through the forums and read the posts by others who were/are getting a similar message but none were in the same situation as when I am getting it.
I have tried unistalling and re-installing Flare and .net, and have also restored my system, nothing works. Needless to say, this has slowed down my productivity as I have to click two buttons everytime I go into a topic to edit it. See attached images.
Any help or advice appreciated.
Thank
Emily

Have you got a master TOC and master Target defined? Even if you have - redefine them. I've got this vague bell-ringing that I've seen this before and it was due to a master something-or-rather becoming unset.

Thanks for the reply Helen, I will keep that in mind if I have any further issues. All projects are fine this morning! Swear the gremlins have been in my machine!

Hi Emily,

A belated welcome to the forums.

This is the reason why a standard procedure when experiencing problems with a Window's machine is to shut the computer down and reboot (ie a cold start). That way nothing is retained in dynamic storage, all the selected services are started normally, and the gremlins have a chance to migrate to another machine
