Hello,
We run Google Analytics on our webhelp and it's very useful. I'd like to run the Site Search query but do not know what the query parameter is that I need from Flare to give to Google in order to track this. Does anyone know?
Many thanks,
Paula

Re: Google Analytics Search
Did you ever find this out? I'm considering Google Analytics for our webhelp. Did you have to do anything different than what you would do for a website? Do your customers install the file locally?
Thanks,
Kristi

Re: Google Analytics Search
Hi there,
No I never received a reply with any help on this question.
It's quite simple to add google analytics to your site.
You just have to add the google code to your Master Page and voila!
You can find all the instructions on how to do it here: http://www.google.com/support/analytics ... wer=174090
I hope that helps.
If anyone out there knows the answer to my question I would much appreciate it.
Cheers,
Paula

Re: Google Analytics Search
Thanks, Paula. Are you using it for WebHelps posted online only, or are you also using it for WebHelps that are installed locally?

Re: Google Analytics Search
Giving this post a bump in case that might generate some answers. I'm also looking for a way to set up Site Search, and haven't found any information on the topic in these forums or anywhere else. Perhaps the only solution for Flare users wanting search analytics is to purchase and implement MadCap Feedback. But it would sure be nice if we could just enter a simple query parameter for use with the free Google tools.phanna wrote:Hello,

If anyone knows more about this, please leave a reply. Thanks!
Re: Google Analytics Search
Flare's html5 search query does not conform to the query parameter format specified here: http://support.google.com/analytics/bin ... er=1012266
The most common solution around is to send an event containing the search phrase whenever the search button is clicked. Refer to viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18356

Re: Google Analytics Search
It would be really nice to have a solution to this. We too are looking to implement GA, and some more support for it would be nice.
Re: Google Analytics Search
So entering 'search' in that field doesn't work?
I haven't used it myself, but it seems like the implication is google finds the terms you enter, assumes the next character is a separator, and the following ones are your search terms. Or at least, that's how I read it - it's not very clear.
If that doesn't work, what happens if you try 'search-'?

Re: Google Analytics Search
An old post - still no solution to this problem?
Re: Google Analytics Search
Entering "search" will definitely not work.
Not sure if it works but you may try adding a Search & Replace filter in your GA View (profile) which replaces "#search-" to "?search="
GA should recognize the search phrase as a normal URL parameter.
However the most common solution around is to send an event containing the search phrase whenever the search button is clicked. Refer to http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =9&t=18356
